Potrero Stage
× Playwriting Master Class with Ruben Grijalva
Ruben is the author of this year's festival premiere, ANNA CONSIDERS MARS, and the Edgerton Foundation New Play Award winner and O'Neill finalist, VALUE OVER REPLACEMENT. He mines today's headlines for plays that challenge our understanding of the world around us and the difficult choices we face each day, from professional baseball and the impact of steroids to climate change, technological advances, and the possibility of Mars colonization. A filmmaker as well, Ruben has a keen insight into the differences between theatre and film and what these fields can each learn from one another.

Potrero Stage
× Playwriting Master Class with Katie May
Katie is the author of this year's festival premiere, A HISTORY OF FREAKS, as well as the Lark Playwrights Week finalist, ABOMINABLE, and MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL. Katie has a unique gift for blending fantasy and reality and finding heroes in the unlikeliest of places, from a lonely mortician's assistant on a quest to find the last Yeti to an academic discovering within herself the key to a traveling circus' survival and, in her most recent short work, a pair of vending machines preparing for the singularity even as they find themselves caught up in the travails of the humans they currently serve.
